Some people say that music is the language of the soul. It brings together people from all cultures and walks of life. It gathers them and binds them with sweetly strewn melodies that float through the air enchanting each person's imagination. It is such a big part of human culture that I think hardly any of us can imagine a world without music. There is one thing that is bothering me though. It seems to me that the music now has stopped progressing.
We hear on the airwaves songs that sound so much alike. They have the same beats. Lyrics of songs are pretty much saying the same things. Songs have become almost imitations of each other. I guess it's because music has been around for so long that it's almost as if every conceivable melody has already been done. Some even resort to just replacing the lyrics of really old songs that they think have been forgotten.
Music artists now also do countless revivals of oldies. If not a revival, then artists make remixes of their songs and release them in a new album. They do this to divert attention from the fact that they are running out of ideas for new songs. I think this is the biggest sign that music now has stopped evolving.
I guess we just have to wait and see if there is still any chance that today's music will progress. As of now, I guess we just have to deal with the never ending stream of indistinguishable songs over the radio.
